Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrive Leh

Welcome to Leh the former of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh situated in the lap oh mighty Himalayas. On arrival at Leh you are traditionally welcome by our tour representative and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is at at leisure to adjust to the high altitude or you may elect to take a short walk and visit the Leh bazaar, etc. Towering above the town is the nine stories Palace, the residence of former monarchs. Still higher lies Tseao Monastery. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02 : Shey / Thiksey / Hemis Excursion

After breakfast departs for a full-day sightseeing tour of Shey situated 15 kms popularly known for its 12 mts Shakyamuni statue made of copper & plated with gold. It is a huge collection of paintings of Lord Buddha, Bodhisattva and Mahasiddhas and also gives the appearance of being built around a huge golden figure of Buddha 40 feet high. Later visit Thiksey’s gompa looks like a miniature of the Potala Palace in Lhasa. Hemis is the most famous of all monasteries in Ladakh and contains some of the region’s finest art treasures. Dinner and overnight stay at Leh hotel.

Day 03 : Leh

This morning after breakfast visit Shankar Gompa, Namgyal; Tsemo and Leh Palace. After lunch visit Spituk a 1000 year old Monastery and Stok Palace the residence of the Queen of Ladakh, built in the early 19th century. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 04 : Leh / Lamayuru / Uleytokpo

Drive from Leh to Lamayuru founded by Rinchen Zangpo in the 10th century. En-route see the magnificent the confluence of Indus and Zanskar rivers. After crossing Khalsi you start climbing on the hair pin bends and reach Lamayuru. . Lamayuru has fascinating caves carved out of the mountainside. Also known as Yung Drung (Swastika) it is sited on a high promontory overlooking the village and valley after sightseeing of Lamayuru drive back towards Uleytokpo for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 05 : Uleytokpo / Leh

After breakfast drive from Uleytokpo to Leh. En-route visit Alchi- the shrines at Alchi, some of which date back to the late 11th century, famous for the most extensive examples of Buddhist art also visit the ancient temple of Alchi Du-Khang. Later visit Likhir Monasteries founded in the 11th century AD that was destroyed by fire in the 15th century. It has a huge clay image of Buddha's including past, present and future and also a house of an interesting collection of thankas, old religious and domestic costumes and implements, etc. Dinner and overnight stay at Leh hotel.

Day 06 : Leh

Today your full day at leisure or you can visit 6th-century Tsemo (Victory) Fort and old town to explore the beauty of Leh.

Day 07 : Depart Leh

This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Delhi. On your arrival in Delhi you will be transferred to your hotel where you will have room for few hours for wash and change before your onward flight or various extensions in India.
